Clothes from the Viking age

Shawl was a popular piece of women's clothing from the period of the Icelandic settlement up to the present. It is hand woven from an original Viking design and is made from pure Icelandic wool. In the late 18th century, it became increasingly popular to knit shawls such as these. It was easier to make than the woven wool previously used.

This tunic was a simple piece of clothing for both men and women. Originally the men's tunics were knee length with long sleeves. Women's tunics were ankle length and open-collared with short sleeves. These tunics were very popular during the Commonwealth period due to their simple cut and comfortable fit.
